How to Use Claude AI for Job Search in India (With Live Startup Job Data)

Most articles about using AI for job search stop at the same three tips: use ChatGPT to write your resume, use it to prep for interviews, use it to draft cover letters. That is useful. It is also only half the picture.

The bigger problem with job search is not the writing. It is the discovery. Finding the right roles at the right companies, filtered by city, function, and stage, is where most candidates waste hours every week. And until recently, no AI tool could help with that, because AI tools do not have access to live job listings.

That changed with MCP (Model Context Protocol), a standard that lets Claude connect to external data sources in real time. HuntYourTribe has built an MCP server that gives Claude direct access to live startup and SMB job listings across India. This post walks through how to connect it and use it.

Browse HuntYourTribe for roles indexed directly from company career pages, updated continuously.

Without any external connector, Claude handles the execution side of job search well: tailoring your resume to a specific JD, drafting cover letters, running mock interviews, and summarising a company before you apply. These alone save two to three hours per application cycle.

What Claude cannot do on its own is tell you which roles are open right now at Indian startups. That is where the HYT MCP server comes in.

What the HuntYourTribe MCP Server Does

HuntYourTribe indexes job listings directly from the career pages of startups and SMBs across India, covering companies from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR. The MCP server exposes this data to Claude in real time.

When you connect it, Claude can:

  • Search for open roles by job title, city, or company
  • Return live listings with company name, role title, location, and apply link
  • Filter by experience level or function
  • Answer questions like "which Bangalore fintech companies are hiring backend engineers right now"

This is not a static list. It pulls from live career pages, so the results reflect what is actually open today.

Example Prompts to Try

Once connected, here are prompts that get useful results:

Find roles by city and function:

"Find backend engineering roles in Bangalore at startups. Show me the company, role title, and apply link."

Combine discovery with prep:

"Find software engineering roles in Hyderabad. Then for the first result, summarise the company and draft three bullet points I can use in a cover letter."

Stack filtering:

"Find full stack roles in Pune at companies with fewer than 500 employees."

Claude handles the search and the follow-up in the same conversation, so you go from discovery to application prep without switching tools.

A Complete Job Search Workflow with Claude + HYT

Here is how to run a full job search session in under an hour:

Step 1: Discovery (5 minutes) Ask Claude to find 5 to 10 open roles matching your target function and city using the HYT connector. Save the list.

Step 2: Company research (10 minutes) For each shortlisted company, ask Claude: "What does [company] do, who do they sell to, and what are they known for in the India tech ecosystem?" This gives you context before you apply.

Step 3: Resume tailoring (20 minutes) Paste each JD into Claude with your master resume. Ask it to identify the three most important gaps and suggest specific rewrites. Do this for your top 3 to 5 roles.

Step 4: Cover letter drafts (15 minutes) For the roles you want to prioritise, ask Claude to draft a cover letter. Prompt: "Write a cover letter for this role at [company]. My background: [2 sentences]. Why I want this: [1 sentence]. Keep it under 200 words."

Step 5: Interview prep (ongoing) After you apply, come back to Claude for mock interviews. Prompt: "Run a mock interview for a [role] position at a [stage] startup. Ask me 5 questions and give feedback after each."

Set Up a Daily Job Alert with Claude Scheduled Tasks

Instead of manually running searches every day, you can set Claude up to pull fresh job listings automatically on a schedule and send you a summary. This is one of the more practical uses of Claude's scheduled task feature combined with the HYT connector.

How to set it up

  1. Open Claude at claude.ai
  2. In a new conversation, enable the huntyourtribe-jobs connector via the + button
  3. Type your job search prompt as a complete, standalone instruction, for example:
"Search HuntYourTribe for backend engineering roles in Bangalore posted in the last 24 hours. List the company name, role title, and apply link for each. If fewer than 3 results are found, also include roles posted in the last 48 hours."
  1. Once you have a prompt that returns good results, click the clock icon (Schedule) in the Claude interface
  2. Set the frequency. Daily at 9 AM works well for active job search
  3. Save the scheduled task

Claude will run this search every morning and deliver the results as a new conversation. You open it, scan the listings, and decide which ones to act on. No manual searching needed.

Tips for a good daily prompt

Be specific about what you want back. A vague prompt returns a vague list. A good daily prompt includes:

  • The role or function you are targeting
  • The city or cities
  • What you want Claude to return (company, title, apply link)
  • A fallback if results are thin (extend to 48 hours, or broaden to adjacent roles)

Example for a product manager targeting fintech:

"Search HuntYourTribe for product manager roles at fintech companies in Bangalore and Chennai posted in the last 24 hours. Return the company name, role title, and apply link. If fewer than 3 results, include roles posted in the last 48 hours."

Why this matters

Most candidates check job boards reactively, once every few days. A daily automated pull means you see new listings within hours of posting. At Indian startups, being among the first 10 to 20 applicants makes a real difference. Hiring managers at smaller companies often review applications in batches and close roles faster than large companies do.

The paid plan's 24-hour job access and 100 calls per hour limit makes this workflow reliable. On the free plan, the 20 calls per hour limit and 24-hour delay still support a daily routine, just with slightly older listings.

Free Plan vs Paid Plan

HuntYourTribe's MCP server has two tiers.

Free plan:

  • All search filters available (city, role, company, experience level)
  • Jobs posted more than 24 hours ago
  • 20 API calls per hour
  • Company watchlist of up to 3 companies. Claude will pull open roles from those companies when you ask "Pull from my watchlist"

Paid plan:

  • Everything in Free, plus:
  • Jobs posted within the last 24 hours. Be the first to apply at the companies you actually want to work for
  • 100 API calls per hour
  • Company watchlist of up to 10 companies. Claude will pull open roles from those companies when you ask "Pull from my watchlist"

The paid plan matters most if you are actively searching and want to get to new listings before the volume of applicants builds. Early applications at startups have a meaningfully higher response rate than ones sent 3 to 5 days after a role is posted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the job data real-time? The HYT MCP server pulls from live career pages of Indian startups and SMBs. On the free plan, listings are from roles posted more than 24 hours ago. On the paid plan, you get access to roles posted within the last 24 hours.

What cities and companies does HuntYourTribe cover? HYT indexes roles from startups and SMBs across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR, covering companies from seed stage to Series D and beyond.

Can I use this on Claude mobile? MCP connectors currently work on Claude web and desktop. Mobile support depends on the Claude app version.

Do I need the Claude desktop app? No. The connector works in the Claude web app at claude.ai. The desktop app is optional.

Can I automate daily job alerts with Claude? Yes. Claude's scheduled task feature lets you set a daily prompt that runs automatically and delivers results to you each morning. Connect the HYT MCP server, write a specific search prompt, and schedule it to run at a fixed time. The section above on daily job alerts walks through the exact steps.

What is the difference between the free and paid plan? The free plan gives you access to all search filters, jobs posted more than 24 hours ago, 20 API calls per hour, and a watchlist of up to 3 companies. The paid plan adds jobs posted within the last 24 hours, 100 API calls per hour, and a watchlist of up to 10 companies. If you are actively searching and want to be first in line at your target companies, the paid plan is worth it.

Why does the paid plan get earlier access to job listings? Early applications at startups get significantly more attention than ones sent days after posting. Most roles at high-growth startups fill quickly or close for new applications within 48 to 72 hours of going live. Getting notified within 24 hours puts you ahead of the majority of applicants.
